Kevin Kay

The Founder and CEO of The Detroit Music Collective, Kevin has 30+ years of experience in the music industry.  He has worked for Chrysalis Records, Polydor Records, The PolyGram Label Group, Island Records, V2 Records, Mercury Records, Dreamworks Records, Virgin Records and Sony Music Nashville, working with many artists including U2, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, David Bowie, Melissa Etheridge, 30 Seconds to Mars, Nelly Furtado, Papa Roach, The Cranberries, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley.

 

He was the Chair of The Music Business & Entrepreneurship Department, as well as an Adjunct Professor at The Detroit Institute of Music Education.  He has also worked for the world’s largest experiential marketing agencies managing global music intitiatives for Fortune 500 Companies, and has founded a Brand Sponsorship Consultancy and an Artist Management Company.

Michael Jakary

Michael is the Founder and Chief Operating Officer of The Detroit Music Collective.  With his 30+ years of experience in the music industry with major record companies, most recently as Senior Vice President of Marketing for The Universal Music Group, he has worked with many artists including Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Post Malone, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, Drake and many others.

He is the Co-Founder of Ten Foot Hedge Productions, a TV and Film Production Company, and he is also the Co-Founder of 2424 Vinyl Pressing – a Vinyl Record Manaufacturing Plant in Detroit.

Scott Myrick

Scott is the Founder and President of The Detroit Music Collective.  He has 30+ years of experience in the music industry as a Tour Manager for Tantric and Mexico 70, as well as an artist manager, booking agent and as a front of house engineer.

He was the Founder of Otus Supply – Detroit Music Venue which was instrumental in producing shows from Greta Van Fleet, War and Treaty, Rival Sons, Billy Strings and Kane Brown at the onset of their careers.

Michelle Tyrell Elliott

Michelle is the Founder and Senior Advisor for The Detroit Music Collective.  With her 30+ years of experience in the music industry working at The Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Capital Records, Lyric Street Records – Walt Disney Music Group and MCA Nashville – Universal Music Group, she has worked with Madonna, Beyonce, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, Cold Play and numerous others.

As a business owner and entrepreneur, Michelle’s vision and insight of the music industry is invaluable to The Detroit Music Collective and the Independent Music Community.
